New Creature, Old Habits, Careless Preaching

As I explained in the sermon this past Wednesday evening, 2 Corinthians 5:17
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
has always been a sticking point with me. I have heard it misused so much of my life to beat people up with. If you don't understand what I mean, you should listen to this sermon. I had several younger Christians come up to me after the service and tell me that the message really helped them and gave them relief. I wish I had someone tell me the truth when I was a young Christian because I suffered for many years being made to feel guilty by careless preaching from the pulpit on this subject.

Too many preachers these days are preaching personal preferences instead of Biblical doctrine and truths. If you are going to preach about the clothes that people wear, you need to stick with what the Bible has to say about it. If you are going to preach about hairstyles or tattoos, or piercings, or anything like that, you need to preach what "thus saith the Lord," not what "thus saith the preacher." I really don't want to know some man's opinion or preference, I want to know what the Lord has to say about things. Too many people, especially younger Christians have been run off and hurt from such careless preaching.

If you want to listen to the message, listen to the audio or watch the video below:
